South African Association Volunteers

As part of the 2022 Mandela Day project, SAAHK and the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa urged community members to use their 67 minutes of kindness to assist the most vulnerable members of our society – the children.

On 23 July, SAAHK volunteers took the goodie bags to a Birthday Happiness party in Ngau Tau Kok. They also spent the morning volunteering at the party. SAAHK volunteers handed out gift bags to ethnic minority birthday boys and girls celebrating their special day with friends. Read more here:

Heyley from the ELCHK Lutheran Academy saw our article in the SCMP and decided to make a video about Birthday Party Happiness Asia as part of a school project. Heyhey said:

"We found an article on the South China Morning Post regarding a “Hong Kong charity that holds birthday parties for less fortunate kids” and we took interest in this topic. We would like to sincerely thank Mr. Edward Fernandes for agreeing to do an interview with us on May 25th, 2022. The purpose of the school project is to show understanding of how well-structured communication enhances audience engagement through analysis and argument. We thought that an interview would enhance the reliability of our documentary, so we took the initiative to contact the organisation."
