Hello everyone! My name is JO, and I’m a social work student from Hong Kong. It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be a part of Birthday Happiness Asia, a place filled with love and hope for children who need it most.
Hong Kong is a bustling city where life moves at a relentless pace. Many people are so busy that they even forget their own birthdays. I grew up in such an environment. As a child, I never had the chance to celebrate my own birthday. I still remember how much I longed to blow out birthday candles, share a cake, and receive gifts surrounded by friends and family. But for some kids, such a celebration feels like an unreachable dream.
Because of my own experiences, I deeply understand what a birthday can mean to a child. It’s not just a day of celebration—it’s a reminder that they are loved, cherished, and valued. A single birthday party has the power to bring them joy, warmth, and the strength to face life’s challenges. It plants a seed of hope in their hearts, a light they can carry with them even in their darkest moments.
Being part of Birthday Happiness Asia allows me to share this hope and love with children who need it the most. Every time I see a child’s face light up with joy during a birthday party, every time I see their eyes sparkle with happiness, I am deeply moved.
